Glossary

This page offers an overview of the technologies and methods we employ and implement. All of the technologies, techniques, methods and procedures briefly described below are employed in at least one of our services, projects or products.

Requirement of the US Federal Drug Administration for products and procedures dealing with "electronic documentation" and "electronic signatures".

Active Server Pages – a technology which enables a dynamic creation of HTML pages.

Printing and scanning bar codes is an element in a number of material logistics applications as well as of the "TestLab Plus" system.

The DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 contains all the requirements which need to be fulfilled by test and calibration laboratories if they want to prove that they operate a quality management system and have the technical competence to achieve sound professional results.

Quality management system – the DIN EN ISO 10012 is an effective measuring management system, ensuring that the measuring tools and processes are suitably matched to the intended use. It is important for achieving product quality goals and as a risk control for false measuring results.

Quality management system – An ISO 9001 quality management system guarantees quality assurance which goes beyond the quality of the product alone. It also describes the requirements and comprehensive measures which clearly define all of the processes within an enterprise.

A technology for the off-line exchange of data between different systems.

The analysis of errors and possible influences is important if a system is to deployed in critical areas.

Good Lab Practices – The principles of GLP provide a formal framework for the implementation of security checks of chemical products and are legal entities in many countries. They deal with the organizational processes and conditions under which lab checks are planned, implemented and monitored, as well as the recording and reporting of such checks. The principles of GLP are brought to bear, in particular, for chemical and pharmaceutical labs.

The ISO/TS 16949 defines the requirements for quality management system in the automobile industry and are based on a number of different standards (ISO 9001: 2000, QS-900/USA, VDA 6.1/Germany etc.). They are developed by the international  committee IATF (International Automotive Task Force) and acknowledged worldwide by all of the automobile manufacturers.

Remote Function Call – RFCs enable the interactive communication with other systems
(e.g. SAP).

Rapid Prototype Development – We employ RPD methods to achieve functional results quickly. By means of prototypes our customers can immediately check functionality and manageability.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol – The use of SMTP makes it possible to send emails without an email client (e.g. Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes).

Simple Network Management Protocol – Interferences which are discovered by our monitoring system can be forwarded to a network management system via the Simple Network Management Protocol.

Memory (=Speicher) Programmable Systems – They are used in technical information systems a high degree of reliability and security are called for in connection with control functions.

Structured Query Language – a standardized query language to readout and change data in a database.

Visual Basic – VB is the preferred programming language for most of our projects.

Visual Basic for Applications – Customers often express the desire to be able to also access our applications via their own functions. Since this usually means the one or the other element of Microsoft Office, it stands to reason to employ Visual Basic for Applications because it is a programming language which many users are familiar with.

Visual Basic Script – VBS from the Microsoft Office family is popular with many users. We use this technology to support scripting so that customers can implement simple changes themselves.

The VDA 6.1 is the German body of rules and regulations for the automobile industry and addresses itself to the suppliers of German automobile manufacturers.

Windows Scripting Host – Available free of cost and as a standard feature of Windows operating system, WSH is the platform for implementing scripts.

Being able to use a character set specific to a given country can play an important role in the international use of applications, for example, in order to be able to print addresses in the lettering of a particular country.
